Food Manufacturers: A Case Study

A major food manufacturer was looking to streamline key facility management tasks among their 17 plants nationwide, they chose to work with DataSplice. We were able to provide a simple and flexible solution the manufacturer could configure on their own to accommodate changes in workflow. In addition several steps in the inventory process were streamlined.

DataSplice developed a scalable inventory and work order solution that easily fell “in sync” with their current workflow. The client was able to get a handle on inventory management using an automated bar code printing feature that drastically reduced the amount of time and staff involved in manually tracking inventory. Individual items are now scanned and labeled quickly, and key data is uploaded to the CMMS automatically-with no retyping of data. The solution can also be altered by the client to accommodate future changes in workflow.

In addition, all critical materials for work orders are now tracked directly through the handheld to the CMMS which is uploaded to the system via an ethernet docking station. This provides an additional level of accountability reduces the cost required to replace tools and materials and eliminates an extensive paper trail.
