Technical Specifications

The DataSplice Mobile Integration Suite is a tool for providing mobile access to existing enterprise data resources. What separates DataSplice from similar tools is its extensive configurability - the application itself is not hard-coded to access any particular data. This means DataSplice can be used to access applications using pre-configured settings or extended to provide mobile access to arbitrary data sources. The DataSplice server can simultaneously connect to any number of databases. The user can access information in Maximo, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and many other platforms with the same tool.

The Core Platform of the DataSplice Mobile Integration Suite is comprised of several different components: the DataSplice Server, the DataSplice Administration Client, and the DataSplice Remote Client. DataSplice technology also provides a unified, simple interface for a variety of mobile scenarios for use in real-time (wireless) and batch mode(offline).

Additionally, DataSplice has developed modules which extend the functionality of the core platform. The modules provide business rules so that DataSplice correctly modifies the data in question. The modules provide a useful starting point using proven work processes that can quickly be tailored to specific needs. Available Maximo modules include Work Orders, Inventory Management, and Asset/Equipment Management.

The core functions of DataSplice are extended through various plug-ins. These have the ability to provide access to data stored in external systems, perform queries and process modification events. The plug-ins process authentication of mobile users and provide access to existing users and groups. They execute custom business logic, including accessing functionality available through external APIs. Plug-ins extend remote client functionality, such as local data storage and custom actions.
