Utility and Substation Inspections:
 A Case Study

A major  Southwestern utility company wanted to upgrade their system. They worked with DataSplice to create a solution that would completely eliminate an inefficient paper-based work order system and utilize technology that would help to develop an “electronic route” for substation inspections to capture data quickly.

By utilizing cellular data communications and laptops as tools for the inspection process, they were able to combine several key data entry screens into one screen and save considerable data entry time. In addition, workers were able to collect the measurement data in real-time during the routes and rounds process, no matter where they were within the service area. As a result the company was able to drastically reduce task time,  correct issues before a potential failure, and save money on labor hours.
