A major water utility was noticing that information was being posted after the work day in batches, instead of as the labor was occurring. The “Plains” Truth of Offline Inspections and Condition Monitoring

Inspecting a pumpjack can entail over 80 measurement points per unit. Those great grasshoppers on the plains not often near a cell tower, so all of those points were historically placed on paper, then placed into Maximo and a secondary condition monitoring system well after the fact. DataSplice has developed a system which allows all of that information to be collected in a single application, and uploaded as soon as connectivity is regained. Also, inspectors now have the option of creating corrective work orders in the field, speeding up the repair processes, resulting in a reduction of inspection frequency by 10%.

Going to School on Dorm Rooms: A study on inspections and work orders

Part of keeping costs down is increasing efficiency, and colleges are learning that using DataSplice to examine dorm rooms and their assets with bar codes has reduced both inspection times, and new work orders.  Facilities now capture photos before and after dorm room move in, which documents damages, as well as permit on the spot work order creation.  One organization found inspection times reduced by 75%, and follow up work orders decreased by 29%
